In 2018, financial and business services made up around:

  • 11.8% of Scotland’s international exports (£3,985 million)
  • 27.1% of Scotland’s UK exports (£13.870 million)

Financial and business services covers a range of subsectors. This includes:

  • business support
  • financial services
  • management consultancy
  • legal and accounting
  • insurance and pensions

Between 2002 and 2018 Scotland’s financial and business services exports increased:

  • internationally from £1.6 billion to £4 billion
  • to the rest of the UK from £6 billion to £13.9 billion
